The Blue Beret

The Army has it's claim to fame;
The Airborne Rangers, the Green Berets.

The world knows the Navy Seals;
Life of Danger, Men of Steel.

The Corps have their elite too;
Recon Patrol, the Proud, the Few.

But when it comes to us, not much is heard;
We're just the Cops who guard the birds.

In Vietnam, through toil and strife,
We gave it all, our hearts, our life.

A page in history, a chapter in time;
We fought for freedom, yours and mine.

We stayed vigilant through cold and rain,
and bear the fatigue, hardship, and pain.

This piece of ground, we will defend, Side by side `til the bitter end.

So fear not pilot, you can fly all day,
This base is guarded by the Blue Beret.

Why is it that everytime I see anything that has to do or is associated with the USMC, I feel a sense of motivation and an urge to just get out there and kick major ass? I have been having these feelings for the longest time and now that i'm realizing it, I'm starting to wonder if the USAF is what I really want. I mean why would I have feelings of being left out or something when I see those shows about USMC training and everything. I was watching

"Earning the Title: United States Marine"

And I couldn't stop wishing I was there. I don't know if it was the intense atmosphere of it all or just the whole sense of accomplishment but, It made me want to be a Marine. For a while, While I was watching the show my mind was like, "Screw the Air Force, Go Marines!". And I was even thinking about how it would be if I did decid to join The Corps. But you see, It's not official but Air Force is what I chose. I even decided what job I wanted. Yes, WANTED. Security Forces. I do get pumped up about the Air Force when I think about it but it doesn't compare to how I get when I see all this Marines stuff. I will be the first Airman in my family. It does make me feel proud. But gosh, The first Marine. That will be crazy. I have a big family and they will all know me as being "The Marine". I do have ALOT to think about. I don't want to make a decision that I will regret later on. Well I guess that's it. Later.

Life, God, And The USAF

I hate this whole waiting till I graduate BULLSHIT. I want to go to BMT right NOW. Gah. I know pretty much everything I have to know.

I KNOW:

- The rules

- Core values

- Chain of command

- How to fold my clothes

- How to make my bed

- How to wear my uniform.. I'm in ROTC for god's sake,

- Customs and Courtisies

- How to drill

- Call commands

- Be a leader

- Be a follower

- Help people out

- Follow directions

- Polish my shoes

- Hair regulations

- How to keep my bearing

- BE AWESOME

Haha, Ok I don't know about that last one but yeah, I am so ready. All I need is my diploma and my signature on that piece of paper that says I am in! I'm literally counting the days till I can finally just go and sign up.

So yeah... Long time no update. Not much has happened. I'm 2 months away from becoming a SENIOR! I can't believe how fast high school went by. It's crazy. I am so confused about what to do now. College/ROTC/Officer or Air Force/Enlisted/Security Forces. I want to do both so bad. Well one or the other more at times. I really just want to go enlisted. But people keep telling me officer is the way to go. Yeah, I know. Do what I want. But that's the thing. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT. So i'm screwed. I still have until i'm officially a senior to decide. I hope I make the right decision. Well, Tomorrow is uniform day so I have to go and get my blues ready. Later.

Sgt. Garza, The USAF Recruiter, called me the other day. Everything went well. He asked me the same questions Guitterez asked. He asked if I took the ASVAB and all that, I said yeah but I never got the score back. He seemed pretty cool and we were talking about what I want to do and he seemed suprised when I told him exactly what I wanted to do. I told him that I knew what I wanted to do for 2 years now. Haha, My friends told me I must have been his easiest recruit. But of course, I chose the Air Force since a while back. I have nothing against the USMC, and no i'm sure as hell not scared. I'm more used to Air Force stuff and what not and it will help a shit load when the time comes to actually use my knowledge of it. I need to start training again so fucking bad. It's already going to be March. I have 9 months to really get in shape but 2 months to get in better shape. Yup, I am in a tight schedule. Oh well. Yeah, That's about it. Change of Command went well. I got in trouble by the Operation Squadron Commander for not being with my flight on time. I'm going to Washington during spring break. Bolling AFB here I come...

3 words: CHANGE - OF - COMMAND

I have to wake up REAL early and go to the ROTC building at 7 because, we have change of command tomorrow morning. We have to wear class "A" uniform. I don't want to wear my damn service jacket. It's way too big. But anyway my ASI, MSgt. Miller, gave me the position of Honor Guard Commander. So yeah, I'm on a competition team. We have a NAVY drill competition to go to on the 19th. I have 2 weeks to get ready. It's all good though. Being an officer is so awesome. We have our own lounge, desks, cords, and hats. But then theres the responsabilities, getting chewed out, hardcore inspections, expectations, and setting examples. Which I might say is kinda... Alright? Yeah. I have to go work out so bad. I say that alot but I have no fxcking time. Whatsoever. PLUS, I am failing most of my classes, I don't have the sufficient credits to be caught up with my class. Yeah bitches, I am behind on everything. So what? I seriously have to bust my ass from now until May 2006. And then i'll see whats up. UGH, I have to go now. Homework. Later.

I got a call from Sgt. Guitterez the other day. That will be the second time she has called me. Well i'm falling asleep and my phone rings, I answer. She says, This is Sgt. Guitterez with the USMC, How are you this evening? I am like... Wait WHAT?! So I talk to her and she asks if she can ask me a couple of questions. I say sure. But wait... Haven't I had this whole conversation with you before? Yup. She probably "misplaced" my info and number since she called me again and totally didn't remember me. I guess it's cause I told her I was stuck in between joining the USAF and USMC. These are the questions she asked me.

- Are you married? (HAHA no)

- Do you have any kids? (NO)

- Do you have any kids you don't know about? (Smart question..really!)

- Have you had any surgery done on you? (Nope)

- Have you had any screws or any metal objects placed in you? (Again..smart)

- Do you have any tattoos? (....No?) I do..shhh

- How tall would you say you are? (5'8")

- How much do you weigh? (200lbs of EW) I'm working on it kids :)

- What interests you about The USMC? (EVERYTHING)

- Do you like killing people? (OMG..Yes cause I never killed someone) way 2 go!

- Do you like blowing stuff up? (OH YEAH!)

OK, Armando (My full name) everything sounds really good i'm gonna be at your school in 2 days, what lunch do you have? I have 'A' lunch. Ok, Well i'm gonna go see you so we can sit down and talk and maybe you can stop by the office sometime so we can see what we can do for you ok. If you see me at your school stop me and show me some love ok (OMG HAHA). ok. Well goodbight. You too. Bye.

AND.... That was it. Sgt. Guitterez cracks me up. I love her. Haha. Well i'm gonna go shower and i'll talk about some other stuff later.
